A study conference on photography organised by the Fondazione Forma per la Fotografia and by Open Care – Servizi per l’arte (5 and 6 April 2014).

The purpose of the seminar was to tackle the problems relating to the cataloguing, study and valorisation of the photographic material gathered and organised in the archives. The departure point was the reality of the archives and the documentation centres of the main organisations and institutions who conserve photographic material, in particular the author photos, and which contain an extremely interesting historic stratification linked to the culture and diffusion of images. The main objective of the work was: an in-depth study and discussion of the technical aspects relating to the conservation of material; the cataloguing and valorisation of the archives themselves but also of the opportunities created with the introduction of digital and the normative effects of the legal safeguarding of the material.
